This is the ideal tour to start
your holiday adventures to the Philippines. Transfer
from the airport in Manila, or your previous travel
module, to Angeles City. You receive an Asian welcome
buffet including some drinks. Angeles City had until
1991 the biggest American airbase outside the U.S.A.
The Clark- Airbase has a very long airstrip. On this
airstrip even the Space Shuttle can land. In the Vietnam-war
up to 1,200 flights a day could leave for Vietnam.
The base is now a big Duty Free
Zone, where it is very attractive for shopping. Also
Apo, the big local market, is very nice to
visit. We have a ride in a local Calesa horse and
wagon. Angeles City, with its many restaurants, casinos,
karaoke and gogo bars has a very lively night life.
We make visit to the lahar-fields
of the volcano Mount Pinatubo. This volcano had in
1991 the biggest eruption of the last century. Complete
cities disappeared under the lahar ( a combination
of sand, dust and lava). You will see the top of a
clock tower of a church above the ground in one of
the lahar covered villages. The Geologic Society predicted
the eruption nearly on the hour and a massive evacuation
of the population was ordered. However many people
lost their lives and the complete area changed to
a moon landscape.
The Pagsanjan Waterfalls and the
Bumungan River is one of the top tourist Attractions
in the Philippines. Pagsanjan has a beautiful old
city gate and a old Catholic Church. Both are very
interesting to visit.
Colorful kayaks and the skilful
boatmen bring us along the Bumungan River, through
the tropical rainforest with its beautiful flora and
fauna, a breathtaking scenic experience.
On this river they made Coppola’s
Vietnam-War-Movie "Apocalypse Now". After
an exciting journey along the river we reach the mighty
Pagsanjan waterfall.
Boys pull us on a raft under the
waterfall to the cave behind it. Take care you have
some extra dry clothes, a towel and plastic bag to
protect your film and camera. The Pagsanjan Tour is
really a day full of adventure. Back to the hotel
in Angeles City or the starting point of your next
travel module.

Early in the morning we leave
for Pagsanjan Waterfalls. Late in the afternoon
